2019 European Confucius Institutes Joint Conference was held in Bergen

On June 18th and 19th, the 2019 European Confucius Institute Joint Conference which is arranged by the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban, hosted by Confucius Institute in Bergen, was held in Bergen, Norway.A total of 61 Chinese and foreign directors and Confucius Classroom leaders from 35 Confucius Institutes/Classrooms in 17 European countries, Beijing Sports University delegation and China University of Political Science and Law delegation attended the meeting.

Mr. Chang Quansheng, the first secretary of the Education Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Norway, said in his speech that the Chinese Embassy in Norway has always attached great importance to the promotion and dissemination of Chinese. The conference was held in Norway and is actually a work of promoting Chinese in Norway. Since its establishment in 2008, the Confucius Institute in Bergen has made tremendous contributions to the teaching of Chinese in 10 different locations and has launched its own syllabus and teaching materials. All Chinese language teaching experts gathered at this conference to share their experiences and opinions on Chinese teaching in Europe and around the world. It is of great significance to the promotion and dissemination of Chinese in Europe.

Mr. Wang Feng, deputy director of the European Office of Hanban, said at the conference that in order to better standardize the standards for running Confucius Institutes and provide guidance for improving the quality of Confucius Institutes, the headquarters also drafted Standards for Confucius Institutes' School Running and Standards for Appraising Confucius Institutes' Performance in School Running. Hanban will bring everyone's opinions and suggestions back to the headquarters, study them carefully, and actively absorb them.

Activities such as the ancient Chinese legal culture exhibition and martial arts performances were held during the conference.

It is reported that in 2019, Hanban will hold seven regional conferences in Europe. The conference this time will be the third European Confucius Regional Conference held this year. It has also the largest number of participants and Confucius Institutes.
